Verizon Wireless To Allow Intercarrier Short Messaging

In a key boost for adoption of text messaging by US cellphone subscribers, Verizon Wireless this week is committing to enabling its subscribers to send short text messages to other carriers' customers. Verizon is the last of the big consumer-oriented wireless carriers to make a public commitment to allowing subscribers to send SMS messages to other carriers' customers just by entering their 10-digit phone number.
