Carriers Moving to 9PM Off-Peak Start
Dec 12, 2001, 7:13 AM by (staff)
The window to enjoy free night or weekend cell phone calls is changing and, in many markets, getting smaller. Sprint PCS moved the start of its night calling period to 9 p.m. from 8 p.m. after similar moves in many markets by Cingular Wireless and Verizon Wireless. Carriers say the changes ease network congestion and make their plans consistent nationwide. The changes typically apply only to new customers or those who change their contracts.
