$5 Million Cell Phone Heist

On Sunday, May 5, an official of the Brightstar Corp. discovered that thousands of cell phones had been stolen from a company warehouse in Vernon Hills, Ill. The facility has only been open since October, 2001. Brightstar confirmed that an "incident" was being investigated, but declined to discuss the matter further. Five-year-old Brightstar is a major distributor of wireless products and accessories in the U.S. and Latin America. According to sources, possibly 30,000 handsets were stolen, mostly the high-end Motorola V60 series.
