May 21, 2002, 1:32 PM by (staff)
AT&T Wireless today introduced a new service that gives businesses the ability to send large volumes of text messages to the wireless phones of their employees and participating customers. For example, airlines could notify individual customers of flight delays, or dispatch companies could use the service to distribute critical routing information to their drivers. The service is called Text Messaging for Large Accounts, and pricing begins at $1000 setup and $500 monthly, plus the cost of a dedicated frame relay circuit.
