Sprint PCS, eONE To Build Mobile Payment Network
May 22, 2002, 2:58 PM by (staff)
Sprint PCS and eONE Global today announced that they have agreed to establish a U.S. mobile payments network. Sprint and eONE Global will actively seek other U.S. operators to join in developing the network. Wireless customers will be able to store their personal details and preferred payment options in a virtual wallet, and choose which payment method to use when making payments via their mobile phone. The system will support both micro- and macro-payments, for transactions including mobile Internet services and retail point-of-sale. Payment options will include the customer's phone bill and existing credit and debit card accounts. eONE Global's subsidiary, Encorus Technologies Limited, will supply the underlying technology, and the transactions will be processed by eONE Global affiliate First Data Corp.
