Qualcomm Announces BREW 2.0

Qualcomm today announced a new version of its BREW platform. BREW is a proprietary technology that allows users to download small applications that run within a phone. BREW 2.0 adds a host of key features, including SSL for secure online trasactions. Also new are browser components, supporting HTML, XHTML and cHTML, which can be used by BREW applications, or as a standalone Wireless Internet browser. Multimedia features are also part of the new release, including JPEG and CMX support, and the ability to record sound.
