Grayson Wireless today announced that it has received a new order for Geometrix® E911 wireless caller location systems from AT&T Wireless. The new equipment will be deployed on both GSM and TDMA networks, whereas previous AT&T orders with Grayson were for TDMA-only equipment. The Geometrix system uses TDOA+AOA technology, which augments triangulation techniques with angle measurements. AT&T was previously committed to E-OTD technology, but earlier this month revealed to the FCC that it planned to switch to TDOA-based systems to meet the FCC's E-911 mandates, after E-OTD systems failed accuracy tests.
