Sendo said today that it has abandoned its Z100 smartphone, and the Microsoft Windows Powered Smartphone platform on which it was based. The company will instead develop a smartphone based on Nokia's competing Series 60 platform. Sendo was originally one of the launch partners for Microsoft's phone platform, and Microsoft owns a stake in the manufacturer. The Z100 was scheduled to ship in just a few weeks. A Sendo spokesperson said one reason for the switch was that Sendo could get access to the source code for the Nokia software, which it could not do with Microsoft's software.
