Intel To Announce XScale Chip for Phones

Intel plans to announce tomorrow the availability of a new processor designed for use in GSM/GPRS phones and handheld devices. The chip, dubbed Manitoba, is the first processor from the chip giant to include an on-chip DSP (digital signal processor) alongside Intel's XScale processor core. The chip will also include flash memory.
