SK Display, a joint venture between Sanyo Electric and Eastman Kodak, has started production of the world's first full-color active-matrix OLED displays. Kodak will use the first units in a new digital camera announced on Sunday, and Sanyo is set to introduce a CDMA phone using the 2.2" display in Japan. Tiny OLED displays have appeared in some Asian phones as secondary displays, but Sanyo's phone will be the first to sport an OLED main display. OLED displays are brighter and use less power than the LCDs used in current phones.
