MiTAC Announces Advanced Microsoft Smartphone

Taiwanese manufacturer MiTAC last week quietly announced the Mio 8380 - its first smartphone. The tri-band GSM phone runs Microsoft's Windows Powered Smartphone platform, and utilizes Intel's new XScale processor for phones. Key features include a large TFT transflective color display, integrated camera, folder design with external display, MMS, MIDP 2.0 Java, MPEG-4 encoder for sending video, class 10 GPRS, and an SD card expansion slot. Carrier partnerships and availability have not been announced.
