Handspring Delays Treo

Handspring has delayed the US introduction of its all-in-one communicator device, the Treo, citing the shortage of an important component. The Treo, which combines features of a Web-enabled cellphone, an organizer and a messaging gadget, will go on sale on Handspring's web site in February and in stores in March, the company said. The company had planned to begin shipping to the United States this month. Small-scale production of the Treo began in December, but those units were shipped to Europe and Asia.
