Sprint PCS Announces New Initiatives, Phones

Sprint PCS yesterday announced several new phones and initiatives. Highlighting an emphasis on camera phones, Sprint announced that it will carry the Samsung A600, which features Samsung's twisting screen design, and the Sanyo 8100, which supports 10-second voice notes sent with photos. The company is also emphasizing Pocket PC devices, and announced that it will carry the Samsung SPH-i700 and Hitachi G1000. Both have built-in swivel cameras, and the Hitachi features a full mini-keyboard. Sprint also announced Telemetry Services, which will enable vertical-market applications on Sprint network, such as wireless ATMs, wireless power meters, and real-time truck tracking.
