Nextel, Research In Motion (RIM), and Motorola today announced an agreement to develop a new PDA-style handheld with both voice and data capabilities. The device will operate on Nextel's national iDEN network, and will feature RIM's BlackBerry wireless email solution, Nextel's Direct Connect two-way radio service, Nextel Wireless Web online services, and Java (J2ME) application support. The device is scheduled for release sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.
