DoCoMo Preps Megapixel Camera Phones

updated Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo said today it plans to launch the world's first camera phones with a resolution of more than a million pixels in the next three months. The three megapixel models will be made by Fujitsu, Sharp, and Sony Ericsson. The Sony Ericsson SO505i has a unique swivel design and will feature the highest resolution - 1.3 million pixels. The Fujitsu model also comes with a small sensor patch that identifies the owner by fingerprint. All six phones in the new 505i series feature Macromedia Flash, infrared ports that can be used for remote-control functions, and built-in cameras that can also read barcodes. All six also include memory card slots, and some models are the first to support the new miniSD card format. The phones run on DoCoMo's mainstream 2G network.
