Qualcomm Announces 1xEV-DV Chipsets

Qualcomm today announced new CDMA2000 3G chipsets for both base stations and mobile phones. The CSM6700 solution for infrastructure equipment will support 1xEV-DV, including CDMA2000 Revisions C and D. The MSM6700 solution for handsets supports CDMA2000 Releases 0, A, B, and C, as well as Revision D and 1xEV-DO. CDMA2000 Revision C, also known as 1xEV-DV, adds 3G high-speed data download (forward link) to the CDMA2000 protocol. Revision D adds high-speed data upload (reverse link) as well, for applications such as sending megapixel images and streaming video. Samples of both chipsets are expected to ship in 2004.
