Nokia Beefs Up Series 60 with MIDP 2.0

Nokia today announced a new version of its Series 60 operating system (OS) for smartphones. The headline improvement is an upgrade to the new MIDP 2.0 version of Java. The new Java APIs support applications with enhanced graphics, Bluetooth, secure HTTP, advanced multimedia, and messaging. Nokia today also introduced the Nokia Developer's Suite for J2ME, Version 2.0, with MIDP 2.0 support. Additional features of the new Series 60 OS include interface customization and improved MMS via enhanced SMIL.
