Ericsson announced yesterday that it has signed a licensing agreement with Philips for Bluetooth 1.2 technology. Philips' semiconductor division will license Ericsson's new Bluetooth baseband core, which implements the complete range of mandatory Bluetooth 1.2 features. A first pre-release has already been delivered. Philips will be one of the first companies to offer Bluetooth 1.2 chips. Compared to previous versions, Bluetooth 1.2 offers better voice and audio quality, and improved coexistence with other wireless technologies.
