T-Mobile, Leap, Others Agree to Spectrum Swap

T-Mobile USA, Leap Wireless, Cook Inlet, and Savary Island today announced that they have agreed to swap spectrum in a handful of markets around the U.S. According to the terms of the agreement, Leap will acquire 10MHz of AWS spectrum in Phoenix, Ariz., and Houston, Galveston, and Bryan-College Station, Texas. In exchange, Leap Wireless and its subsidiary Savary Island will give T-Mobile and Cook Inlet spectrum in various markets in Alabama, Illinois, Missouri, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The deal also includes intra-market swaps between Leap, T-Mobile, and Cook Inlet in Philadelphia, Wilmington, Atlantic City and several markets in Texas and New Mexico. Last, it includes intra-market exchanges between Leap and Cook Inlet in several markets in Texas. The spectrum swaps will need to be approved by federal regulators.
