AT&T Tempts Developers with Watson Speech APIs

AT&T today announced that it will provide several different speech-related application programming interfaces (APIs) to developers in June. Developers will be able to use the APIs, which are based on AT&T's Watson speech recognition technology, to create voice-enabled applications and services for smartphones, TVs, and other digital devices. The first AT&T Watson speech APIs will cover web search, local business search, question and answer, voicemail-to-text, SMS, U-verse electronic programming guide, and a dictation API for general use of speech recognition. In addition to the APIs, AT&T also plans to make an SDK available to help make integrating speech into applications easier. AT&T already uses the Watson speech technology in a number of Android and iOS applications.
