PalmSource today announced the acquisition of China MobileSoft Limited (CMS), a Chinese mobile phone software company. CMS offers a range of OS and application software for smartphones and feature phones, which will extend PalmSource's lineup of phone software to include lower price points. CMS has also been developing a version of Linux optimized for mobile devices, which will be folded into the Palm OS lineup. The new Palm-on-Linux OS will include the Palm OS user interface and software frameworks. PalmSource will continue to offer both Palm OS Garnet and Palm OS Cobalt.
