May 2, 2012, 7:12 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Nokia today announced that it has extended its business arrangement with lens-maker Carl Zeiss and will continue to use Carl Zeiss lenses in its camera phones for the next few years. Nokia has a long-standing relationship with Carl Zeiss, which has provided the optics for a number of Nokia phones. Nokia also said that the PureView Symbian-based smartphone announced in February will go on sale in select markets later this month. The PureView has a 41-megapixel camera and uses Carl Zeiss optics. Nokia hopes its deal with Carl Zeiss will help it to compete more effectively against rivals.
