Nokia Sues HTC, RIM, and ViewSonic Over Patents

Nokia today filed lawsuits against HTC, Research in Motion, and ViewSonic, alleging that the companies are violating its intellectual property. Nokia said that some 45 patents are being infringed upon, including some that pertain to dual-function antennas, multimode radios, power management, app stores, multitasking, navigation, conversational message display, dynamic menus, data encryption, and retrieval of email attachments on a mobile device. The lawsuits were filed with the U.S. International Trade Commission, with the Federal District Court of Delaware, and with courts in several cities in Germany. Nokia didn't immediately state what it wants from HTC, RIM, and ViewSonic. Typically, lawsuits filed with the FTC seek injunctions blocking the offending companies from importing the infringing products.
