Research In Motion CEO Thorsten Heins spoke directly to the press today and provided some insight about the company and its plans moving forward. Heins pledged that the company is focusing strictly on bringing BlackBerry 10 to market. He said when he took the leadership role, he quickly assessed the company's position and set the path the company is now on. It wants to help its customers "succeed at life." Heins noted that RIM knows it is not a media company and will thus rely on third-party partners to deliver mapping, media, gaming, and other consumer-focused applications. The company has trimmed down its work force to reduce duplication and bloat, and Heins is close to hiring a chief marketing officer, which he feels is essential to make sure the company delivers a consistent message. The company is nearing completion on BlackBerry 10, but Heins said the product won't ship until it is "perfect."
