Nvidia and Intellectual Ventures Snag 500 Wireless Patents
May 14, 2012, 8:51 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Nvidia and Intellectual ventures have together purchased a collection of 500 wireless technology patents from IPWireless. The patents cover LTE, LTE-Advanced, and 3G/4G technologies. The two companies split ownership of the patents, with Nvidia licensing the rights to those patents that it did not acquire. Despite the sale, IPWireless retains on-going, royalty-free access to the patents. Terms of the acquisition, which closed on April 30, were not disclosed.
