Nokia today announced the 6822, an update to its 6820 messaging phone. Upgraded features include a VGA camera, a 65,000-color display, and Java MIDP 2.0. Like the 6820, it features a unique flip-out keypad that opens to reveal a split QWERTY keyboard. Bluetooth, e-mail, and instant messaging are also included. The 6822 will be available later this quarter in Europe and the Americas.

Needed Bigger Improvements
- Go to a higher resolution 208x208 display
- Support attachments (likely an operators issue)
- Add quality CCD 1.3 mp camera
- Go to a series 60 platform
- Multimedia features (stereo sound, mp3, memory)
The 6822 would have been excellent 1 year ago or may be 6 months ago. Now it is a case of too little too late.
The keyboard would still be the major selling point but soon there will be top-notch blackberry phones on the market that would leave it in the dust. Then the question becomes why invest in last year's phone?

class 10 EDGE is a big plus when using as modem (while provider supports)
RS-MMC support
now the LCD and cam are same as 6230, but missing external memory and class 10 EDGE are not good
