Google Adds Call Screening Controls to Google Voice
May 30, 2012, 11:31 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Google today added new calling and contact management controls to its Google Voice product. The new tools give Google Voice users greater control over who can reach their Google Voice number. The controls come in the form of new address book groupings. Moving forward, numbers that appear in a user's address book can be given individual settings, such as dedicated greetings for specific people. The tool can also be used as a white-label service to screen people who aren't in the contact book. Google Voice users can now lump together anonymous/unknown callers and specify select actions for all such calls as a group. The controls are available via the Google Voice web interface, but impact behavior on any Google Voice line on any mobile platform.
