Facebook Enables Carrier Billing for Digital Goods
Jun 7, 2012, 10:28 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Facebook recently announced that users of its mobile applications can make Facebook Credit purchases from their smartphone and be billed through their wireless network operator. The new payment system allows Facebook users to spend Facebook's digital currency for online app purchases or in-app purchases and convert the Facebook Credits to local currency. The purchase is then added to the user's monthly cell phone bill. The service requires two steps for authentication and is supported by a wide number of carriers worldwide, including AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile USA in the U.S.
