Proposed Federal Law Would Slap Radiation Warnings On Phones

A new law introduced in the House of Representatives proposes to more tightly regulate cell phone radiation. The EPA would be required to do new research on cell phone radiation and update its related guidelines. New labels would be required on all new cell phones advising consumers of the amount of radiation emitted by that phone, the legal limit, and tips for reducing exposure. The law is sponsored by Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio). It will pass through a committee before being considered for a vote. San Francisco passed a similar labeling law last year. The CTIA objected to the law, boycotting the city for future mobile industry trade shows that had been scheduled there. Most studies on the issue have either shown phones to be safe, or been inconclusive.
