Motorola Hits Apple with Fresh Litigation

Google-owned Motorola has initiated new legal action against iPhone maker Apple. Motorola on Friday filed a petition with the U.S. International Trade Commission alleging that Apple is violating seven of its patents. Motorola says the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch violate these patents, and it is asking that ITC prevent Apple from importing them into the U.S. "We would like to settle these patent matters, but Apple's unwillingness to work out a license leaves us little choice but to defend ourselves and our engineers' innovations," said Motorola in a statement. According to the Wall Street Journal, none of the patents have been deemed standard essential, which must be licensed under fair and reasonable terms. The exact nature of the patents was not made clear by Motorola.

They Just Had Their Previous Lawsuits Dismissed!

This is really starting to tick me off..these constant lawsuits that only waste taxpayer money and harm consumers by limiting choices.

The judge should require Apple and Motorola to repay the taxpayers for all the money they wasted fighting frivolous lawsuits in court.

couldn't agree more. I cannot figure out who is sueing who anymore, and so little ever comes of this litigation that it isn't even funny. In addittion to the tax dollars these extra costs to the manufacturers drives up the cost of equiptment.

The parties involved in the suit pay ALL the court costs. Usually the loser..Taxpayers are off the hook..
