Facebook Overhauls iOS App, Focuses on Speed
Aug 23, 2012, 12:19 PM by Eric M. Zeman
Facebook today announced a brand new version of its iPhone/iPad application. Facebook claims that Facebook 5.0 for iOS performs twice as fast as the previous version, as it relies on native iOS code rather than HTML5. Facebook says the app itself should open faster, news feeds should refresh faster, notifications should appear quicker, and photos should open faster. Facebook also added some new double-tap features for the newsfeed and a swipe-down-to-close feature in the photo gallery. Facebook 5.0 for iOS is a free download from the App Store.
