Qualcomm Acquires Small Cell Maker DesignArt

Qualcomm today announced that it has acquired DesignArt Networks, a manufacturer of system-on-chip (SoC) and related software products that can be used in small indoor and outdoor base stations. According to Qualcomm, DesignArt's products can help network operators extend the reach of their networks with its wireless backhaul products. Qualcomm will fold DesignArt's backhaul solutions into its existing portfolio of small cell base station, Wi-Fi, and ethernet businesses. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. DesignArts is based in Israel.
