Mozilla today announced updates both to its Android and desktop Firefox browsers. Android-based smartphones gain a number of bug fixes and a handful of new features, including a redesigned user interface, support for additional locales, performance improvements, and expanded Adobe Flash support. The browser performs faster, and is able to switch between desktop and mobile-optimized modes much easier thanks to a new toggle tool. The new version of Firefox now requires Android 2.2 and up, and for the first time is compatible with Android 3.x Honeycomb tablets, which gain many of the features ported to the smartphone version of Firefox earlier this year. The update is a free download from the Google Play Store.
