TomTom Prepping Android App

TomTom today announced plans to offer a navigation application to the Android platform come October. The application, which TomTom is previewing at the IFA event in Berlin this week, will include a bevy of features to help smartphones users navigate between points. The app will include: the latest maps even when no signal is available; free updates; "IQ Route" that promises accurate drive and arrival times; lane guidance for transiting complicated junctions; 2D and 3D map views; and voice-guided directions. The app will also offer several in-app purchases that add more features, including HD Traffic and Speed Cameras. Pricing and availability for the application will be announced close to launch.
