PalmSource Adds Feature Phone Software

PalmSource recently purchased China MobileSoft, and is using their software and expertise to create a platform for feature phones (mid- to high-end phones not running a smartphone OS). PalmSource's new phone platform includes an user interface, messaging application including email and MMS, and a browser capable of rendering WAP and HTML content. It also includes development tools for licensees to customize or add elements to the platform. Openwave and a number of other companies also offer platforms to manufacturers for rapid phone development.
