The Federal Communications Commission today published more details about AT&T's proposed acquisition of NextWave Wireless and its subsidiaries. If allowed to proceed as requested, AT&T will acquire between 10MHz and 25MHz of A, B, and C Block WCS spectrum from Comcast in 149 Cellular Market Areas; 10MHz of A Block WCS spectrum from Horizon in 132 CMAs; and 5MHz to 30MHz of A, B, C, and D Block WCS spectrum from NextWave in 476 CMAs. In total, AT&T could gain control over as much as 30MHz of WCS spectrum in markets around the U.S. Further, the transaction would give AT&T 10MHz to 30MHz of AWS-1 spectrum from NextWave in 28 CMAs. The FCC has set the pleading schedule for the transaction: petitions to deny are due by October 1 and replies are due by October 22. The transaction is valued at $600 million.
