Nokia's City Lens Augmented Reality App Exits Beta
Sep 3, 2012, 8:54 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Nokia City Lens, an augmented reality application for Lumia Windows Phones, has graduated from beta and is available as a 1.1 release. City Lens lens uses a Lumia smartphone's camera, compass, and accelerometer to overlay web-based data about local points of interest on a live view of their surroundings. It can, for example, point out hotels, shops, public transportation, and restaurants. The app also lets Lumia owners share places easily with friends via SMS and other tools. The app can be downloaded directly from the Windows Phone Store on Nokia Lumia devices. Previously, the app was only available via Nokia Beta Labs.
