Openwave To Port Software To Qualcomm 3G Chipsets
Feb 16, 2005, 2:23 PM by (staff)
As part of an agreement to create a rapid development platform for 3G UMTS phones, Openwave will port its Browser and other components of the V7 platform to Qualcomm WCDMA chipsets. By offering both a customizable software as well as hardware solution, Qualcomm is helping major manufacturers and ODMs to cut development time on new 3G handsets. The first platform will feature Qualcomm's WCDMA and multimedia Launchpad solutions as well as Openwave's Browser, messaging clients, PoC and other software. The relationship will continue as Openwave ports V7 to additional Qualcomm chipsets and integrates BREW into their software.
