RCA Rebrands as the Competitive Carriers Association
Sep 10, 2012, 7:01 AM by Eric M. Zeman
The Rural Cellular Association today announced that it has rebranded itself as the Competitive Carriers Association (CCA). The CCA believes the new name reflects how its mission has evolved in recent years to advocate for smaller, regional network operators and to better compete with the nation's largest carriers. Specifically, the group will be targeting AT&T and Verizon Wireless, which it refers to as a duopoly. "CCA will continue to work with policymakers to ensure competitive policies are adopted, which will benefit consumers, the economy and job growth," said Steven K. Berry, president and CEO of CCA, in a prepared statement. The association gives each member a single vote, and will flight not just for rural carriers, but small carriers across the country no matter what market they serve.
