Microsoft today revealed that its Windows Phone 8 platform will be party to brand new versions of Twitter, Facebook, Skype, and (coming in 2013) Pandora. These new applications will be able to take advantage of new tools built into Windows Phone 8 that allow users to send content to the lock screen, such as notifications and live, updating backgrounds. The apps will be able to run in the background without draining the battery. Additionally, Microsoft is publishing the software developers kit (SDK) for Windows Phone 8 tomorrow, October 30. Developers will be able to use the SDK to create apps that can take advantage of the new features that are a part of Windows Phone 8.
