Microsoft's SmartGlass App Now Available to Android and iOS

SmartGlass, the application from Microsoft that allows smartphone owners to control and interact with their XBox 360 gaming consoles, is now available to both Android and iOS devices. The Android version reached the Google Play Store in late October, and the iOS version became available this week. Both apps allow Android and iOS smartphones and tablets to beam content to the XBox. The idea is to allow consumers invested in Microsoft's products to consume media on one device and then transfer the experience to another without losing their place. Smartphones and tablets can also act as companion devices, and can receive and/or reveal ancillary content associated with the video or other media being consumed. SmartGlass is also available to Microsoft's Windows Phone platform. The software was first announced earlier this year.
