Opera Separates Browser and Ad Businesses
Feb 25, 2013, 7:53 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Opera Software today announced the launch of Opera Mediaworks, a wholly-owned subsidiary that will consolidate Opera's mobile advertising entities. Mediaworks houses AdMarvel and Ad Exchange, as well as Mobile Theory and 4th Screen Advertising, two advertising firms it acquired last year. Mediaworks is the new home for the Opera Mobile Store and Opera Payment Exchange, too. Both are platforms provided to network operators, which in turn use them to create services for their own subscribers. Opera's browser business, which includes desktop and mobile browsers, stands apart. Opera recently announced that it would transition its browser products away from its own Presto rendering engine to the more commonly used WebKit platform.
