Sprint Makes It Easier for MVNOs to Customize Phones
Mar 20, 2013, 9:21 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Sprint today announced another initiative, called the Custom Branded Device Program, it hopes will make the lives of its MVNO customers easier. This program gives MVNOs access to completely unbranded Android smartphones (no references to Sprint, nor any Sprint apps/services on board), which the MVNO can then customize with its own branded apps and services through Sprint's Mobile ID and Mobile Zone products. The LG Optimus G, LG Mach, and Sprint Flash will be the first three devices available through the program, and Sprint expects more handsets to join the lineup soon. Though these phones will be free of Sprint branding, they will be certified to run on Sprint's, and hence the MVNO's, network. Sprint thinks this service will help its MVNO customers offer more appealing devices and services, and do so quicker and easier.
