Google today updated Google Translate for Android, giving it the power to perform language translations when there's no internet connection. The new version of Translate for Android (requires Android 2.3 and up) offers about 50 downloadable language packs. Android device owners can add the language packs to their phone and translate when not connected to the web. The new version also adds the ability to translate vertical text in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean with the device's Camera. Google Translate for Android is free to download.
