Sierra Wireless Dismantles Voq Division
Jun 8, 2005, 12:31 PM by (staff)
Sierra Wireless yesterday announced they would shut down their Voq-branded smartphone operations and focus on their core business of radio chips and PC cards. The Voq Windows Mobile smartphone met with a poor reception when it finally launched a year after Sierra had promised it. Earlier this year Sierra Wireless shareholders threatened to sue the company for launching the Voq, which the suit called flawed. Sierra has not announced when they will cease production or sales of the Voq, but has stated they have already started shifting some staff to other business units.
