Facebook today announced a new feature for the desktop version of is service called Trending. The idea behind the Trending section, which appears in the upper-right corner of the web site, is to bring interesting and popular conversations into users' view. The topics displayed under Trending will be based, in part, on user Likes and interests, as well as based on items that have been shared by users' friends. The Trending section is rolling out to web users gradually beginning today. According to Facebook, though, it is still testing the Trending feature on mobile devices. Facebook couldn't say when the feature might be made available to smartphones or tablets.
