BBM's Next Target: Gingerbread

BlackBerry today announced the pending availability of BlackBerry Messenger for Android devices running version 2.3.3 Gingerbread. The app entered open beta today, and BlackBerry intends to fully launch the app for Gingerbread devices next month. BBM is already available to Android devices running version 4.0 and up. BlackBerry did not say if the Gingerbread version will include all the same features found in the 4.0+ release.

You mock, but the fact of the matter is that there are still today on the market Android devices being sold which run 2.3......if BBM can be made to run on Android 2.3, then it would be stupid for Blackberry not to try to tap into that market.
