Twitter Buys Patents from, Signs Deal With IBM

Twitter has purchased approximately 900 patents from IBM, and has also signed a patent-licensing agreement with the company. IBM accused Twitter last year of infringing on three IBM-held patents. The purchase and cross-licensing agreement are meant to help protect Twitter from patent-related lawsuits down the road. The companies did not immediately place a value on the pact.
