FreedomPop today announced a new paid service plan that dramatically undercuts competitors. The new plan, which is compatible with all of FreedomPop's phones, offers unlimited voice minutes and unlimited messaging for $5 per month. The paid plan previously cost $10.99 per month. Further, FreedomPop announced the immediate availability of the Samsung Galaxy S II, which it is selling for $169. FreedomPop is an MVNO that uses Sprint's network. Rather than use traditional cell calls, FreedomPop's voice calls are sent over the data network through VoIP technology. FreedomPop still also offers 200 voice minutes, 500 texts, and 500MB of data free each month.
