Yahoo Ditching Facebook and Google Login Support
Mar 5, 2014, 8:37 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Yahoo recently revealed plans to cease support for third-party logins. In 2011, Yahoo made it possible to sign into some of its services with a Facebook or Google account. The change effectively reverses that decision. Yahoo will eventually require users to sign in with a Yahoo ID for all its services. The first Yahoo service to require a Yahoo ID is Yahoo Sports Tourney Pick'Em, which already enacted the change. Yahoo will begin to remove the Facebook and Google sign-in buttons from all its sites and services. The company did not say how quickly the change will be complete. According to Yahoo, the Yahoo ID requirement "will allow [it] to offer the best personalized experience to everyone."
